What does the Foundation do?
International Maria Luisa de Moreno Foundation
The María Luisa de Moreno International Foundation works to benefit vulnerable communities by applying social intervention models and personal development programmes aimed at transforming individuals using the “Discovering Capabilities, an Opportunity” method, developed by Dr María Luisa Piraquive.
Accordingly, it carries out its social work through three strategic lines focusing on education, humanitarian aid, social well-being, entrepreneurship, and productivity. Its work has been replicated with similar foundations and social organizations in countries such as Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland and England, where the Foundation began its work in London in 2012.
Over the years, social projects have been developed that promote social inclusion, reduce isolation and strengthen wellbeing among older adults, children, and families through support days. In addition, various initiatives have been launched to facilitate access to quality education for the most vulnerable communities in India, Cameroon, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, China, and Colombia. Likewise, significant efforts have been made to provide humanitarian assistance to these and other communities, such as Ukraine.
Additionally, through the Virtual Campus, the Foundation’s work has expanded to 47 countries internationally. Through the Virtual Campus, efforts have focused on developing skills and abilities by offering training courses in various subjects, arts, and trades. In England, more that 1,200 students took part in the different courses offered by the Virtual Campus from 2020-2025. Most recently, using the Virtual Campus, England has carried out the Human Awakening and Household Finances courses to a group of beneficiaries in Kenya, and the Human Awakening course for a group in Guinea Ecuatorial, to hone personal and social skills.
