Building Schools: to plant the seed of goodness in human beings
School Construction
This is a program through which the Foundation builds, adapts, and equips public educational institutions in the most remote and vulnerable areas, where various communities live — including minorities and indigenous ethnic groups — mostly located in marginalized and forgotten rural areas, whose inhabitants live in great vulnerability.
ACHIEVEMENTS
In recent years of social intervention aimed at improving educational spaces, the following achievements have been reached:
In rural areas of Colombia, six new schools have been built, three schools renovated, one outstanding college created, and various training and support actions implemented, which have sustainably improved the quality of life of beneficiary communities.
Support Provided
The Building Schools program has benefited various educational institutions through the support of multiple partners: businesses, individuals, municipal administrations, and school communities. In this way, the International María Luisa de Moreno Foundation is consolidated as an institution that coordinates efforts.
Accordingly, the construction and equipping of school infrastructure have been carried out in accordance with current Colombian regulations, including NTC 4595 and 4596, as well as other guidelines used by the Colombian Ministry of National Education for the design of school environments.
Built Schools
More than just physical infrastructure, communities receive human development projects that promote community empowerment around dignified and inclusive educational spaces.
Since 2008, thanks to the Foundation’s work, six schools have been built and rental improvements have been made to three others. As a result, the quality of life of students and their families has been transformed, and their coexistence with the environment has been significantly strengthened.
